6 Life Changing Lessons you can Learn From Disney's Moana

You’re Welcome:-

Firstly i’d just like to say that Moana is probably my Favourite Disney Film of all time ( Well at least in the Top 5 at least).

Moana is a beautifully animated and crafted film But it is also so much more ( If you haven’t seen it yet whats wrong with you, but seriously spoilers will follow).

This film is so full of life lessons to be taken notice of but done in a subtle nearly subliminal way.
so here we go what can you Learn by watching Disney’s Moana in no particular order:
  1. 1. It is good to have Dreams - From an early age Moana is dreaming of exploring and being more than she is due to the stories she’s told and her interaction with the sea, Despite being told she can’t achieve those dreams she still ends up going for them with the help of her Grandma.
  2. What we learn here is that sometimes it’s better to go with your feelings and that usually the most successful people are told that they can’t do something and yet end up being successful by not listening.
  3.  2. You are Never alone - When Moana leaves the island to find Maui on the Big wide ocean all she has is Heihei and The wave (name unknown) and each in their own way play a supporting role for Moana and then Maui reluctantly in the beginning and then a Big help towards the end of the film also supports Moana in her quest.
  4. What we learn here is that Help comes in many forms and nobody is ever alone despite how lonely and desperate they may feel there is always help available if you look in the right places.
  5. 3. Never Judge a Book by its cover ( there May be an underlying reason why a Person acts the way they do) - Te Ka is the larger than Life Villain in this film but it takes Moana to return him to Te Fiti the Goddess after realising the Stone is actually Her Heart. Hence why she had turned into the Lava God.
  6. What we learn - Sometimes people are not what they seem. You have to see through the exterior and have an empathic view. As you have not travelled in another persons shoes you cannot judge why somebody reacts the way they do. Be considerate of another persons situation before you assume their character or history.
  7. 4. The loss of a loved one - A significant moment in the film is the passing of her Grandma. Moana is at her lowest ebb with all seeming lost when she sees a vision of her Grandma inspiring her to carry on.
  8. What we learn - Everybody at some stage in their life will suffer a loss of a Loved one From Family pet to siblings or parents. This shows us that their spirit is always with us in our hearts and mind. We can use that to inspire us and drive us to achieve what we want to in our lives.
  9. 5. A Friend is a Friend no matter what  happens or how long you are apart - It is fair to say that when Moana meets Maui for the first time there is no Great respect or mutual bond between the two. Moana is a woman with a goal no matter what gets in her way. Maui is an egotistical semi-God who thinks he owes nothing to anybody. As the movie grows so does the bond between the two (see point 3 in relevance to Maui’s underlying story and why he is the way he is). Although Maui does leave Moana to deal with Te Ka, He returns because of their Friendship.
  10. What we learn - A true Friend will be there for you No matter what the circumstances even if you have not spoken for a while. Bonds have to be built to reap the rewards but those rewards are amazing.
  11. 6.With support any Disability can be overcome - Maui for a large part of the film does not have his Magical Fish Hook working correctly and is depressed by this, Later the Hook gets damaged and could destroy his magical powers if it doesn’t survive the battle. Eventually he receives a new repaired Hook.
  12. What we learn - If you suffer from any physical or mental disadvantages. With will power and perseverance they can be overcome. It will be hard but with the right support and friends you will come out the other side (so beat those demons, I know you have it in you)
